BECCA SMITH INTRODUCES THE BIGGEST THING IN KNITTING WITH NEW FULL COLOR BOOK,
BIG STITCH KNITTING: FINDING YOUR INNER STASHIONISTA
BagSmith creator BECCA SMITH has something for knitters who want to knit big, beautiful, fun, and fast. She’s the author of Big Stitch Knitting: Finding Your Inner Stashionista, due out from All-American Crafts Publishing in June 2008.
The book showcases more than two dozen stunning patterns created by Becca and her BagSmith colleagues using the Extreme Knitting© needles designed by U.K. textile artist Rachel John. Becca's patterns allow knitters to create gorgeous, richly textured garments and home and fashion accessories in no time, using multiple fibers and needles ranging in length from 16” to 32”.
“These tools may look daunting but they are really very lightweight and easy to use,” says Becca, a lifelong knitter and designer. “Knitters can have a stunning finished project in as little as a couple of hours!” In size 35 and 50, the super-sized needles are available in five lengths. The book also features patterns for double pointed needles in both sizes. The BagSmith’s Big Hook crochet hook in size S and size U is used for some embellishments. Some patterns call for specific fibers, while others specify weights, making it easy for knitters to use favorite fibers from their stash.
“All of our needles are handmade here in Ohio of beautiful basswood, a renewable and lightweight wood. They are coated with a special wax so the yarn moves beautifully over them,” says Smith.
Becca is a lifelong knitter who created the BagSmith line of unique products featured at more than 800 independent yarn shops throughout the United States, Canada, the UK, and France. “Choosing fibers to work with in a world of fabulous textures and delicious color is my idea of a great time,” she exclaims.
