To commission a piece by Rachel John
Most commissioned items can be delivered within 1 month. For large or complex pieces time to make can be in months.
For commissions please note:
1 Copyright in all design work and copyright of the finished piece remains the property of the
artist.
2 Full payment for small commissions to be paid in advance with the order. Payment for large
commissions will be expected as follows:
• One third of the estimated total with the order to cover the cost of materials and initial
work.
• Balance to be paid before delivery.
• On extended work, payment by instalments will be required subject to agreement. Prices
are strictly net – VAT is not added at this time.
3 A charge will be made for designs, travelling expenses, and other reasonable disbursements
irrespective of the placing of an order.
4 A fee will be charged for cancelled commissions once the order has been placed and the
piece started. This will normally be payments already made.
The design process
Textiles
Knitted rug colour sequences can be ascertained from scenes, objects or events eg a bluebell wood, a plant, fungi, Christmas. Colours can also be matched to interiors or articles – eg sofa, fabrics, samples, a favourite painting, a room colour scheme. For some commissions a visit by the artist to site may be essential.
Photographic hooked rugs and tapestries can be taken directly from a picture, photo or image and mapped onto any size of mesh.
Rugs can be made in any size from cushion pads to blankets to full room rugs.
Sculptures
Sculptural commissions can be based on human or animal portrait, a scene or an object. Sculptures are individually priced to reflect the time and materials required to make a commissioned piece.
Sculptures can be made in many colours, size can be specified.
